We drove as far as we could up Roan Mountain and then hiked the half-mile trail to the top of the mountain. A photograph does not do it justice, but here is my attempt to capture the awesomeness of the view.

Gears are another favorite of mine. The gears on this water wheel worked hard in the 19th century to run a 500 lb. hammer to crush magnetite into iron ore to make iron and steel.

It was great to get away, but as usual it is great to be home! Time to focus on new ways to get freelance graphic design business.
