One of my favorite bloggers, bradbrown.com has written a short article on green blogging. First on his list is to use darker background colors to save watts of energy, to save electricity. Never thought about computer screens this way, but apparently it can save lots of energy.
Another site, Blackle.com, a search engine powered by Google, utilizes a black background for the same purpose.
That is why I selected a dark colored template for this blog.

@annacauley thanks for the comment. I like to look at darker screens better too. It seems like less strain on my eyes.
